Peter Brock Biography
Peter Brock (26 Febuary 1945 - 8 September 2006) is the most successful driver in Australia. He was inducted into the V8 Supercar Hall of Fame in 2001. He was the lead driver for the Holden Dealer Team. He drove Holden for almost 40 years but he also drove BMW, Ford, Porsche, Volvo and Peugeot.
EARLY LIFE
Peter Geoffery Brock was born on the 26th of Febuary in 1945 at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond, Victoria. His mother was Ruth Brock and his father was Geoff Brock. They lived in the town of Hurstbridge. He went to Eltham High School in Eltham, Victoria.
Brock's first car cost him $10 which was an Austin 7. It didn't have brakes or a body. He tried to stop the car by anticipating the line and sliding. Peter Brock also went in the army in the 1960's as a private.
BATHURST
1969 was Brock's first race at Bathurst 1000. He won his first race at Bathurst in 1972 and he won 9 races at Bathurst from 1972 - 1987. In 1979, he won by 6 laps, a record that will probably never be broken. He also won Bathurst 24 hour once.
After all his wins, he got the nicknames King of the Mountain and Bradman of Bathurst.
SANDOWN
Brock won 9 times at the Sandown 500. He won 7 races in a row from 1975 to 1981. He won 37 races in the Australian Touring Car/V8 Supercar championships. Only Mark Skaife equalled his record in 2006.
